On-Site Contests
Fall Media 2024: Individual On-Site Contests
Compete in one of Six Competitions at Fall Media Day.
WRITING:
News Writing - Attend the keynote, take notes and write a news story about the keynote address.
Feature Writing - Attend the keynote, take notes and write a feature story about the keynote speaker.
Opinion Writing - Attend the keynote, take notes and write an opinion story on an issue addressed during the keynote.
INSTRUCTIONS: After the keynote, go to EMU 140 - Rogue during session one to register, draft and submit your writing entry.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
Event Photography - Take a candid photo capturing “Fall Media Day.” Submit photo and caption to the Google form: FMDEventPhoto by 12:50 pm.
Portrait Photography - Take an environmental portrait of an individual at Fall Media Day and include a caption with a quotation explaining what Fall Media Day means to them. Submit photo and caption to the Google form: FMDPortraitPhoto by 12:50 pm.
VIDEO:
Video Segment - Working solo or in groups of up to four, shoot, edit and produce a short video (under 60 seconds) promoting or telling the story of “Fall Media Day” to be used as an Instagram Reel or a TikTok promotional post. Best entries may be reposted on Oregon JEA social media. Upload a .mov or .mp4 video file to FMDVideoContest by 12:50 pm.
AWARDS - Awards for all contests will be presented at the 3 p.m. awards ceremony and posted on the Oregon JEA website. Winning Broadcast entries will be announced on the Oregon JEA Website and Social Media.
